FUN THINGS TO DO IN PHILLY:

Welcome to Philadelphia, the greatest country in the world!

If y’all have free time before or after the wedding, we highly recommend checking out some of our stomping grounds and the historical landmarks around town. The First Unitarian (FU) Church is near City Hall, Love Park, a ton of museums (Mutter, Franklin Institute, Barnes, the Art Museum, Natural Sciences museum), and where I proposed to Klcy: Logan Square (🎶“they turned on the fountain today at Logan circle I felt something in me change”🎶) AKA Spit Fountain (🎶“lemme tell you what I think about froooooooog spit, I’m for it”🎶)! Check out the Philly Film Society and their associated theaters if you wanna watch a movie!

Philly is the ~city of firsts~, so check out the historical signs along your walks around town - maybe you’ll learn something new!

One of our go-to areas, (east) South Street, is full of amazing art and vintage stores, pop-up situations, and bars and restaurants. Definitely check out: Tattooed Mom, South Street Art Mart, Crash Bang Boom, DreamEerie, Philly AIDS Thrift, Magic Gardens, P.E.G. Museum (21+), Repo Records, and ISHKABIBBLE’S (migi's favorite cheesesteak spot). Speaking of which, cheesesteaks…

You honestly can’t go wrong with smaller, lesser known restaurants and shops around town. However, we cannot ethically recommend Pat’s and Geno’s. Just don't do it.
Triangle Tavern has one of the best vegan cheesesteaks in town (and seitan wings). They have regular meat ones too and they give you the option to add broccoli rabe to your cheesesteak (we high key recommend). We hear Angelo’s is goated, we like Joe’s Steak and Sodas, Jim’s on south street, and Monster Vegan.

If you're craving a good-ol BEC, look for a papi store (s/o jennifer grocery) or check out spots like Passero's Coffee Roasters, Gilda, Paffuto, or Bart's Bagels for a fancier version.

Pizza isn't exactly Philly's strong-suit, but we really like Paulie Gee's Soul City Slice in South Philly for some no-frills delicious pizza, negroni on tap, and records for sale. If you're craving something kinda weird pizza-wise, we love checking out the rotating weekly special at Pizza Shackamaxon in Fishtown, or ordering a large Palestinian pie from Olive Branch Pizzeria in the northern Fishtown area (it's absolutely doused in zaatar and amazing with a squeeze of lemon overtop). For some pretty delicious vegan pizza, we'd recommend checking out Pizza Plus South Philly and 20th Street Pizza.

Speaking of vegan stuff...Philly is full of great spots! Some of our go-tos are The Tasty, Grindcore House (the Mickey G breakfast sandwich is a perfect hangover cure), Dottie's Donuts, Batter and Crumbs Cafe (THEE best vegan cannoli), Front Street Cafe, Vegans Are Us in Chinatown (great vegan wings in so many flavor varities), and Pietramala if you're feeling fancy.

You may not find yourself in West Philly, but if you get the chance klcy recommends trying Saad's falafel (the crispiest and most delicious in the city imo!!!). Sandoz food truck, Doro Bet Ethiopian chicken house, Renata's Kitchen, Upstairs at Abyssinia, and Daleng Restaurant are also really solid spots to check out and worth the venture into West! You'll also find cool spots like the University of Pennsylvania's bio pond, Clark Park, Woodlands Cemetery, Bartram's Garden, and the Baltimore Avenue corridor for activities and shopping.

Find yourself near the City Hall area? You could do all the touristy stuff, which is really fun esp if you love history. Otherwise, the Chinatown area is one of our favorites for exploring and wandering around. Fun fact: our arch in Chinatown was the first in the country! The city of firsts! Shops like Ebisu and You and Me have a lot of cool snacks and trinkets (and beauty supplies), and the historic Reading Terminal Market is located in this area. It's usually always very crowded, but the pickles, Amish baked goods, cheap produce, homemade candies, locally-made liquors, and klcy's favorite sandwich spot (Luhv Vegan Deli - get the reuben!!!) are all well worth the stress.

Nearby a bit north of Chinatown is the Callowhill area, where you'll find one of our recent favs, Doom/DOOM/Doom Bar (when you walk in, make sure to look up to see the chandelier made out of bones😈). They also serve Malort, btw. This area also has some great breweries, like Yards, Love City, and Triple Bottom. Next to Triple Bottom is a great (and romantic!) cocktail and food spot called Poison Heart. This area is also where you'll find the Silk City Diner, which has ~*~disco fries~*~, among other delicious meals and drinks.

some other beer breweries we recommend include: Other Half, Evil Genius, Carbon Copy, Two Locals in West Philly, Forest and Main, St. Oner's by Tired Hands, and Human Robot. Two Robbers in Fishtown makes amazing cocktails (klcy loves the dirty martini), a bangin’ burger, and are known for their vodka sodas in a can (which you can buy there or pretty much all over the city in Fine Wine or beer distributors or grocery stores). Johnny Brenda’s is next to Two Robbers and great for late night eats and hangs. If you're looking to try a bunch of whiskey(s), check out Lloyd in Fishtown.

We would be remiss to not talk about the historical impact this city has on professional wrestling. For any fans in the chat, make a quick trip to the ECW Arena (now the 2300 Arena) to pay respect.
